The core outputs and components of the project were:
- Irrigation scheme
- Agricultural extension to enhance knowledge and skills related to irrigated agriculture
- Community capacity building and institutional development
- Natural resource management
- Community saving and credit support activities
All the planned activities of the project were accomplished, and the Abonsi community harvested a total of over 600 tons of yield in just four seasons. The main crops produced were maize, sesame, onion, mung bean, and various fruit crops. From the sale of the cash crops, the 210 households have managed to earn a total of 543,000 birr, which is an average of 2,585 birr per household.
