This vision has been the driving force of Bekelech Demessie Rorisa who was born in the rural area of eastern Ethiopia, in the Adama District Village of Didimtu.
SGDA’s mission is to holistically serve the rural poor population, motivating them to use their God-given potential to work and change themselves through developmental work. Its goals are to support women to build their capacity through income-generation activities, support rural poor children and orphans with a chance for education, help HIV/AIDS victims, work with the community in environmental protection, upgrade the income of rural farmers through irrigation, and help ensure access to pure water for drinking as well as to basic healthcare.
SGDA’s work includes projects like the construction and equipping of a grinding mill and a grain store in the isolated community of Bati Kelo as well as the construction of a veterinary centre and holding pens, which will enable government outreach workers to improve animal health in the region. The organization also contributes through initiatives such as fencing the Didimtu Primary School to protect the planted trees and the buildings established in 2010.

What The Beneficiaries Are Saying
Mrs.Gennet Megertu: “Three years ago when Sageda promised us they would construct a grinding mill, grain store, and veterinary centre, I could not believe them. But their dream was right and true. Today my family and my children are benefiting from the project. All the new places minimized our time and money and helped us a lot. I don’t have enough words to express my inside emotions. I am very happy and satisfied with the works near my house. I thank all who are involved in this good work through contribution of finances.”
Mrs. Bashadu Geda: “I want to thank Sageda for the good work they did in our area. This area is very far from town and nobody understands our problems. When Sageda came to Bati Kelo area, I did not believe them but they have realized all that they said they would do. All this construction and training from them helps us to improve our lives. We rest now from the long journey to Wonji to the mill and treatment for our cattle. I want to thank you all. God bless you all.”

Mrs. Jifto Yai: “I have no words to explain my feelings. I am very happy with all the good works done through Sageda. Look at all the constructions for us. We will take care of the resources we now have. No more it belongs to Sageda; it is ours. I believe if we work hard, we can make poverty history for the next generation. I want to thank Sageda and its Canada partners for the help they did for my community.”
Mrs. Bashadu Abdo: “First of all I want to thank God. I believe this will take us forward to a better life for our children. It is a very great occasion for my community. It is just like morning sun for us. It shows us hope, which will increase and become very bright. Thank you Sageda and Rainbow for your support and love you showed us.”
